Already down 4-0 in the 3rd inning and your starter already run from the game, you have your leadoff hitter sacrificing a guy to second base?

Normally, I'm a fan of sacrificing a guy over, but that strategy's usually relegated to the bottom third of the lineup and NEVER the leadoff or cleanup hitters. In THIS situation, anyway, dude should have been going for the hit-and-run....

Baltimore is like a mediocre Triple-A team at best - does it really matter what they do?

who would of thought the Nationals would be more relevant than the Orioles in such a short time.

How come nobody in the organization ever thought about bringing in Rip as manager (if not player-manager)?

The Orioles, losers of nine of their first 10 games, could use a little help.

Yet, owner Peter Angelos recently declined to hire the franchise’s biggest legend, Hall of Famer Cal Ripken Jr., in a baseball capacity, according to multiple major-league sources.

Ripken met with Andy MacPhail, the team’s president of baseball operations, about rejoining the organization, sources said.

Angelos, however, nixed the idea in a separate conversation with Ripken, telling him, according to three sources, that he did not want Ripken to receive credit once the team returned to prominence.

What a disgusting owner. He's right up there with Finley, Schott, Steinbrenner, Frontierre, Sterling, Jones, and that idiot Red Sox owner who sold Ruth to the bloody Yankees for cash and a loan to fund a cr@ppy play.

really?

I am surprised. The nats have a nice park and up until this year that was all. They are in a considerably easier division so success should be more attainable, but I am surprised.

While the O's are a disaster, have the stupid last place Nat's played 39 games against the top 5 teams in the AL? Yeah, that 9 game lead over the O's is sure impressive.

Angelos wants nothing to do with Ripken right now, because Ripken is actively trying to buy the Nationals. If Angelos were to suddenly decide to sell his majority shares of the O's, I have no doubt Cal is first in line.

Cal is already running a minor league team, the Aberdeen Iron Birds, and two major little league camp locations. If Ripken is to get back into MLB, it'll be in an ownership/GM role, not field manager.

When your owner's name is MacPhail what do you think the franchise is going to do? :twocents:

Excuse me, their team president.

Also, sodomy.
