A tip of my cap to Dustin Pedroia. I can't stand the guy, but nobody was getting him out tonight, what an outstanding individual performance. Oh, could you guys trade Papelbon to the Dodgers, pretty please? Perhaps for Andre Ethier?UNHWildCats wrote:One thing is clear. Pedroia has not been exposed as anything but THE MAN!
How did you forget the immortal Danny White, a football HOFer who played 2B on the ASU baseball team?!?AZGrizFan wrote:Is there another school so well represented in the MLB by superstars and rising stars as Arizona State?
Dustin Pedroia (Red Sox)
Andre Ethier (Dodgers)
Ike Davis (Mets)
Mike Leake (Reds)
Ian Kinsler (Rangers)
Colin Curtis (Yankees, just called up, went 2-3 with 3 RBI in D-Backs series)
And of course, PAST stars:
Barry Bonds
Reggie Jackson
Bob Horner
Rick Monday
Fernando Vina
Paul LoDuca
Travis Buck
Hubie Brooks
and many, many other former players.
Was Mr.White a star in MLB?SuperHornet wrote:How did you forget the immortal Danny White, a football HOFer who played 2B on the ASU baseball team?!?AZGrizFan wrote:Is there another school so well represented in the MLB by superstars and rising stars as Arizona State?

Perhaps you missed the part where I said "in the MLB".SuperHornet wrote:How did you forget the immortal Danny White, a football HOFer who played 2B on the ASU baseball team?!?AZGrizFan wrote:Is there another school so well represented in the MLB by superstars and rising stars as Arizona State?

AZ and UNH may well have a decent argument. You will be exposed as one of the two embarrassments of the Big Sky that you are after we smack your tails yet AGAIN this fall.free7694 wrote:FIFYUNHWildCats wrote: Sac State![]()

Well for starters its hardly fair to say Papelbon sucks.SuperHornet wrote:Why is it that the last couple of years, we keep talking about dominant closers who now suck? We NEVER talked about Fingers, Sutter, or Eckersley in this fashion....
Who is Mr Hells Bells?SuperHornet wrote:I know this is a bad year to make the comparison, but I'll take Mr. Hells Bells over Papelbon any day of the week.
Trevor Hoffman.UNHWildCats wrote:Who is Mr Hells Bells?SuperHornet wrote:I know this is a bad year to make the comparison, but I'll take Mr. Hells Bells over Papelbon any day of the week.
Since SDHornet hasn't seen fit to chime in here: Trevor Hoffman, the career saves leader, mostly from his time with the Pads. He landed on a cr@ppy Milwaukee team after the idiots running the asylum in SD arbitrarily decided he was done, and now he's a blinking set-up guy.UNHWildCats wrote:Who is Mr Hells Bells?SuperHornet wrote:I know this is a bad year to make the comparison, but I'll take Mr. Hells Bells over Papelbon any day of the week.

BTW, that's not to say Papelbon sucks. I'd be more inclined to stick that tag on Rivera. .
About the post underneath yours.... respectfully, you just removed all doubt.SuperHornet wrote:UNHWildCats wrote: Who is Mr Hells Bells?

The greatest post season relief pitcher ever and you want to classify his career based on 1 game? You want to pick on a crappy RP that cost his team a WS? Go pick on Mitch Williams.SuperHornet wrote:Papelbon never blew a save that cost his team a shot at the WS.
