I am very happy for many of the baseball people in their organization that they are having such great success.

Walt Jockety is re-affirming his place among the elite of GM's.

Dusty Baker, run out of town on a rail by the Cubs, is proving that the train wreck in Chicago wasn't entirely on his back.

Scott Rolen, cast to the side of the road by the Cardinals is just being the consumate professional he has been his entire career. A class guy all the way.

Good for you RedLegs, just be sure you fold up the tent in time for the Cardinals to win the division.

It is kind of nice to see baseball on the rise in Cincy again.

Of course, I hated the Reds in the 70s.

Scott Rolen is a miserable SOB. He was is Philly, he was in St Louis. It's only a matter of time before he returns to form in Cincy.

rolen was never anything but a true professional in a cardinal uniform

when he got cross wise with larussa they ran the wrong guy out of town.

A big part of this resurgence, IMO, is due to the incredible play of one Micah Owings, proof that the DH rule is freaking meaningless.

I won't argue regarding Rolen's on field effort. He always seemed to give 100%. But he was easily the most miserable player I've ever seen. He seemed to get no joy out of the game and had the ability to suck the joy out of others. I was glad to see him leave Philly.

Rolen was traded in a multi-player deal that included Polanco coming to Philly.

Rolen wanted out of Philly because he didn't think the team was doing everything it could do to win. At the time it was a valid complaint since many fans, myself included, thought ownership was just in it for the money.

On paper, an infield of Howard, Utley, Rollins and Rolen would rank up there as one of the best ever, but I don't know how the chemistry would have worked. Fortunately for both the Phillies and Rolen they each have their World Series rings, even if they didn't win them together.
