Almost assuredly needing no help to get their man Joey Votto onto the NL Roster, the Cincinnati Reds and their fans reached out to Red Sox Nation Monday with a deal, Vote for Cincinnati Red Joey Votto and they would vote for Cincinnati native Kevin Youkilis.
It's a win-win for both teams and fanbases and it very well maybe paying off. Overnight and early into Tuesday afternoon Youkilis passed New York Yankee Nick Swisher for the AL lead heading into the midway point of balloting, still a long way to go, Youkilis has something working for him, a few things actually.
First he is a member of one of the biggest fan bases in the world, he has another strong fan base backing him up from his hometown, and oh ya, The Nation has never failed to send its man to the game when a Sox player has appeared on the final vote ballot, 3 for 3 and looking for a perfect 4.
The Yankees have only one winner in five tries on the final vote.
Meantime in the NL Votto is looking to go wire to wire and should easily win the balloting. Due respect to the other nominees and their teams pushing their votes, this is just an injustice that needs to be corrected.
Charlie Manuel chose his own guy Ryan Howard over Votto and he was well within his right to do so, but the omission of Votto needs to be rectified. This wasn't the only questionable call by Manuel either as many are still trying to figure out why Omar Infante made the team.

They started doing a fan vote for the final spot a couple years ago.

They only announced the first 102 roster spots over the weekend, they have a fan vote for the remaining 13 reserve positions.

I hope this works out, it would be a travesty if Votto didn't make the team. The one at bat which he may, or may not, get could decide home field for the World Series.

if he wins the NL final vote, its probably highly likely he will start the game as the DH, so he will get more then 1 AB

I wouldn't bet on either of those things. Manuel will try and get all 437 players into the game, he might only let Votto get half an at bat, Votto better swing at the first pitch.

ehh it sucks, but oh well... Swisher rallied his troops effectively. Congrats to him... Now heres to hoping a 3B or 1B decides to skip the game and Youk gets in
