Don't know much about Adams, is he considered "major-league ready"? I know a lot of teams have soured on Montero this season.

Apparently Rangers are in it now with Justin Smoak as cornerstone of deal.

Is it just me or do deals like this always seem to go down when the two teams are playing each other?

I was hoping the Twins could land Lee.

Yankees are now reportedly out of it. Of course for all the players they have either been out of or never in on in the past they can make an all star team with, so they never trully are out until Lee is in another uniform.

This is actually better. We get Lee later this year and get to keep Montero too.

Texas gets Lee for Smoak and other prospects. Texas also gets Mark Lowe while Seattle gets 3 additional prospects.

Great, gave our best pitcher to the team that's already running away with the division title.

Anyway, don't see how Texas can sign this guy long-term, given its chapter 11 case, when the Yankees are going to offer out-of-sight money for him.

Seattle wasnt going anywhere this year and wasnt keeping Lee after this year. In return they get the best prospect in the division. Great day for Seattle

Doubt they did this deal with the future in mind. Texas wants to win this year.

They're not good enough to win it all this year. They'll be huge first-round dogs in the playoffs, even with Lee.

anything came happen in a short 5 game series. And then anythings possible. Who in 2003 on this date thought Florida was good enough to win it all? Can't blame Texas for making a move to win it now... the years they have been competitive have been few and far between.

That said, some execs are already fuming that Texas is being allowed to add $$ on their dime. I assume the Stienbrenners are at the front of that group complaining.

I would assume so since the Yankees are sending the biggest of the bail-out checks to Texas.

Where are you getting this information? Olney's twitter says that the Yankees are "circumspect" and one executive said "these things happen."

Also apparently the Mets are joking that they should do what Texas did: beat out a team for a player, and then get that other team to pay that player too.
