Minnesota is the third state I've lived in. Been a Tigers fan before many of you all were born, since 1967 anyway.

Latest news, Morneau is out of the All-Star game from a knee to the head.

Girardi just announced that he's added Teixeira to the AL squad.

It's over, Verlander gets 11th win, but no All-Star laurels this year.

Central leading Tigers get Cabrera and Valverde on the AL Squad.

Justin Verlander was named to the pitching staff and Joe Mauer says he will play in the All-Star Game

Link
Mauer will play, although the Minnesota catcher and leading vote-getter sat out Sunday's game at Detroit after recently taking three foul tips off his right shoulder.

"Am I feeling great? No, and I could use a couple days off, but I'm able to go out there and play, so I'll be there," Mauer said Sunday.

The hurts, however, helped a few others to make the roster. So did some rules changes.

Oakland's Andrew Bailey and Detroit pitcher Justin Verlander were named to the AL pitching staff Sunday because of a new rule — pitchers who start on Sunday are ruled out for the showcase. So when CC Sabathia and Trevor Cahill threw Sunday, a couple of spots opened up and Verlander got one. Oakland's Andrew Bailey and the Angels' Jered Weaver were also added — though Weaver pitched Sunday, too.

That's a tough question. The Lakers did until they moved to LA. 5 NBA Titles and a few non-NBA Titles in the 1940's.

The Twins have the same number of World Series titles as the Red Sox in the last 90 years. They make the playoffs consistently with less payroll than the Red Sox. Somebody knows what they are doing.

I was going to post the same thing. If the Twins had the Red Sox revenue, they'd be as good as the Yankees.

nope... because the biggest problem for the other 29 teams would still persist... most free agents want the big contract from the Yankees. As much as I hate not being able to see the Sox make a run at Mauer, it was great to see him re-sign with the Twins if for no other reason than the Yankees seeing that he wasnt even interested in hearing what the Yankees might eventually offer.

Suck it Hawk Harrelson, you stupid twat.

Twins take 3 of 4 from the White Sux, and pull back to within a game and a half.

Tough week. Three starters (Inge, Ordonez and Guillen) went on the DL. The next 24 games are against the Rays, Red Sox, Yankees, Angels and White Sox.
