Spokane Shock: 2010 AFL Champions

Post by Screamin_Eagle174 »

2006(AF2): Inaugural season, 14-2 and ArenaCup Champions, #1 in attendance league-wide.
2007(AF2): 12-4, Western Division Champs, #1 in attendance league-wide.
2008(AF2): 15-1, National Conference Champions, #1 in attendance league-wide.
2009(AF2): 15-1, ArenaCup Champions, #1 in attendance league-wide.

After 2009, AF2 was disbanded and some teams merged into the new AFL, Spokane included.

2010(AFL): So far we're 11-2, best record in the league and whooping up on the IOWA Barnstormers on the NFL Network.

All-time, The Shock are 77-12, playoffs included with 2 National Championships.

Don't dog on Iowa's team too much S_E. I know their kicker. Worked out with him a couple of times during the winters while at Concordia. His dad is Concordia's men's basketball coach.

Well in that case I'll be rooting for him to miss a PAT because we missed our first one.

We were dominating them, jumping out to a 27-7 lead at one point. It's 27-21 at the half.

Our starting QB Kyle Rowley has thrown 88 TDs to only 9 INTs on the season. I don't care who you are or what league you play in, that's impressive. :thumb:

The Barnstormers are pretty bad.

I was planning on getting to the game tonight, but it just didn't work out for me in in the end.

They gave us quite a fight tonight. 48-42 Spokane final.

That now puts Iowa at 6-8 with 2 games left, and ties us with Cleveland for last place in the Midwest Division.

Side note of the 24 players on the active roster for Iowa 13 are from FCS or lower programs, and 9 are from FCS schools.

Another side note...SE where could I find a barnstormer helmet like the helmets you have in your sig? I'm debating what I want to do with my sign in the next couple weeks. I'm debating what you have with some teams, or something with Willie's team buttons...maybe both

Well that site has them all, AFL included so I don't know why you asked then. I edited them for my sig a little... cleaned up the edges and a small curves adjustment, but they're all found on that site.

13-2 now after beating Chicago last night. Locked up home-field throughout the playoffs.
http://arenafootball.com/news/index.html?article_id=251" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Spokane – In a battle of two of the best teams in the Arena Football League, the Chicago Rush came up just short, falling to the Spokane Shock 63-49 Friday night in front of a sellout crowd at Spokane Arena.

It what very may well be a preview of Chicago’s first round playoff matchup, the Rush (10-6) and Shock (13-2) traded blows for most of the game, with the two offenses combining to score touchdowns on the first 15 drives of the game. However, a Spokane goal line stand late in the fourth quarter proved to be the difference.

With the Spokane leading 56-49, the Rush had first-and-goal from the Shock 4-yard line. After three of running plays moved the ball to the 1-yard line, Rush quarterback J.J. Raterink looked for receiver Syvelle Newton in the back on the end zone on fourth down. The pass sailed over Newton’s head, causing the Rush to turn the ball over on downs.

That proved the turning point in the game.

On the ensuing Spokane possession, Shock QB Kyle Rowley – who completed 24 of 31 passes for 323 yards and seven TDs – marched the team 49 yards, capping the drive with a TD strike to Greg Orton to put the Shock up 63-49 with one minute left to go.

Pulling for the Shock to knock of Jacksonville to help Tampa win the division and homefield in the first two rounds.

Good chance of that happening. We played horrible 2 weeks ago against Iowa and still won. 11 straight wins... unstoppable right now. :thumb: :thumb:

Well that didn't happen, and the Shock finished the regular season 13-3.

Last week we beat Arizona at home in the first round, and tonight (5pm PST) we play Milwaukee. If we win, we're on to the Arena Bowl, played right here in Spokane baby! I'll be attending if we get in! Go Shock!

Kyle is an odd name for a woman...but then again, I know a woman named Michael (true story), so who am I to judge?

Do the woman give each other the shocker in the huddle between plays?

Unlike JMU football, there are no women on the Shock team. You know, the same league that Kurt Warner played in?

Speaking of Kurt Warner, he'll be calling tonight's game, and the ArenaBowl.

I thought Warner would just call the games from the NFL Network studios, but I guess he's in town calling the game.
