I will always remember him as the guy who paralyzed Darryl Stingley.

Famous for Helmet to Helmet hits, played with Atkinson who was famous for the close-line.

I'm not sure Tatum was the primary hitter, but he was definitely involved.

All I know is that if your last name is Fuqua and you name your son Frenchy, you're an asshole, and I don't feel sorry for you if the kid murders you when they get older.

Dude's given name is actually John William Fuqua. Nickname came later. Sort of like Charles Stengel, who became forever known as Casey because his hometown was Kansas City.

No sympathy here.

I played football for years and played FS. I put many a hit on many a WR so I think I am pretty qualified to say that the hit Tatum put on Stingley was uncalled for. To this day I still have a hard time believing that he wasn't flagged. I guess the ref will have to answer that one.

A few years after that hit I purchased Tatum's book They Call Me Assasin, just to read his point of view on the hit and how he felt about Stingley. After reading the book I came to the conclusion that Tatum was proud of what he did and that it was a planned attack. It seems he and Stingley had a bit of a fued that went back to the days of their Ohio State (Tatum) vs. Purdue (Stingley) days.

Tatum really showed how little class he had when he tried to get Stingley to appear with him to promote a new book that he had written just a few years before Stingley died. Stingley did the right thing by refusing.
