Scary sight. Strasburg just threw a pitch and shook his elbow in agony. Hate to see this.

I was watching live. He winced after throwing a change-up and they took him out of the game for precautionary reasons. I wouldn't be surprised if it was his last pitch of the season. I doubt it was a "significant injury", but why risk it? The Nats have no October aspirations. This is the most the the kid has ever pitched in a season and his arm has probably met its limit. He'll be back strong next year. He had the Phils looking like fools for four innings with fastball in the 96-98 range.

I hope not. The Nats are trying to be really careful with him. It would suck if he turns out to be injury prone.

There's always been concern due to his slight build and odd throwing motion. Unfortunately, I think he's going to follow the Mark Prior route a lot more than Nats fans would like.

I think you are right. I think he puts a lot of stress on his arm when he throws, it may be the price he pays for having such outstanding pitches.

Tommy John surgery to follow :ohno:
IMHO - the bigs get these guys and put them out there too soon. They should have let this guy have a couple years with a pro trainer, get some meat on his bones and, more importantly, the arm/shoulder area.
