WHAT IF...

There is a very real chance there could be 6* undefeated teams this year. Who gets the title game bid then?

*Alabama, Texas/OU/Nebraska, Ohio State/Iowa, TCU, Boise State, and Oregon.

I can promise you that TCU, Boise State, Oregon, and Iowa would be on the outside looking in.

I'm not so sure about that. I think they will be passed over for any undefeated or once beaten Big 10, Big 12, Pac-10 or SEC school. I think Boise still needs some help getting in.

This.

Final 2009 BCS rankings
1 Alabama .9978
2 Texas .9433

3 Cincinnati .8878
4 TCU .8836
6 Boise State .8106

There was a big jump between Texas and the "outsiders" last year. BSU was ranked 6 in both polls used in the formula. Even with them moving up to #2 (an undefeated SEC, BXII or B10 will always be #1), unless the computers like them a whole lot more, they're still #3. Keep in mind that TCU was #3 in both polls last year and didn't make it.

Boise is going to be ranked too high, they'll need to be undefeated, no one-loss teams this year.

I hope you are right because I'd love to see an undeafeted Boise St. in the BCS Championship game, but I don't see it happening. If Alabama goes undefeated and Ohio St. or Texas has one loss I think you will see Alabama vs. Ohio St. or Texas.

On a related note; I had someone tell me today that Boise St. was invited to join the Pac-10, but turned the offer down.

I never heard about this and I have my doubts. Do any of you know anything about it?

No way in hell. From either side

No WAY do they turn that down and no WAY does the Pac-12 invite them. :coffee:

Thanks, that's what I thought. The guy I was speaking to used to work for once of the Philly sports talk radio stations, I was 99.99% sure that he was wrong, but I figured that there was slim chance that he heard something I hadn't.

What's worse, is Boise State getting more 1st place votes than Ohio State.

That will change if Ohio St. runs the table.

Don't forget Virginia Tech, doing what Oregon did last year. If the Hokies run the table now (beating both Miami and North Carolina on the road), come November they could claim how they are so much better than Boise State by then and should be ahead of the Broncos, even if Boise is still undefeated. That would really be a nightmare.

That could happen, and it would be a nightmare. IMHO Va Tech is the one team should not leap frog over Boise if Boise runs the table, but I could see it happening.

Maybe there will be so much bitching and controversy this year because of BSU and TCU that they'll FINALLY move to a playoff. :coffee:

One could hope. :ohno:

Never gonna happen. Bitching and controversy creates air time and dollar bills.

I think you are 1 for 2. I agree with your second statement, but I do think a playoff will happen someday. I think there is too much money in a playoff for it not to happen.

3 Boise State (1) 1-0 1306
