NFL Union decertification

Any of the labor attorneys want to help out on this one?

Looks like the teams are voting to decertify according to articles I've read:

http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=5584667" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Anyone know if they are really doing the vote now or just getting a majority of the cards signed to see if they need to vote (which is what it seems is happening)?

Also, what is everyone not saying about the decertification? All that I am hearing is that it will prevent the owners from locking out the players but if it happens, doesn't this also mean that they wouldn't be able to be represented by a union for 1 year and could the NFLPA do anything for them at all (isn't that their union)?

While this seems like the "in" thing to do for the players, what are the other effects of a possible decertification that everyone is not saying?

This isn't the first time the NFLPA has done this. It's political grandstanding as far as I'm concerned.

Unions whomp....
