Former Chicago Bear/Baltimore Colt/Houston Oiler/Oakland Raider QB-K George Blanda died today at the age of 83. He's famous both for "Papa Bear" George Halas' attempted blackballing of him and for his 5-game 1970 streak where he came off the bench to replace an ineffective Daryle Lamonica, leading the Raiders to a win or tie.
Blanda's #16 should have been retired 30 years ago....

I remember Blanda as a sure footed kicker and someone who could play QB in a pinch when I was a kid.
RIP George. You lived the life.

I'm sure he was more famous for playing in the league for 26 seasons, rather than SH's odd ball facts.

Blanda was the only QB in history who led his league in TD passes one year and picks the next....
