Oddly, there has been much less hoopla for this game in the Philly area than i thought there'd be. Maybe it's the Phillies and the interest in the upcoming Red October, or maybe the whole Vick/Kolb thing wore people out. I'm sure the Linc will go crazy Sunday afternoon, but strangely restrained so far this week....

They're more than making up for it down here. It's all anyone is talking about. Even ESPN seems to be covering it 24/7.

Sunday does make for a great DH - Ravens/Steelers & then Skins/Birds.

ECB ;)

Pretty cool that two of the most compelling games are from just two states.

It's almost like we're Iowa.

Anyone know if the Eagles will be wearing the throwback greens again this week? I really liked those in week one.

BTW, I guess Google is in the same camp as 93 in hating on Vick. If you google image "Michael Vick" there's not a single picture of him with anything Eagles until the 7th page. I was looking for this...

The NFC East dynamics at work is all this is.

Nobody in Philly really cares much about the Redskins. Eagles fans first and foremost hate Dallas, with NY Giants a very close second. Dallas has broken our hearts in the playoffs many times, and perhaps the most elated a Philly stadium has ever been was when the Eagles beat the Cowboys in the '80 NFCCG. It's tough to really hate a team in the Redskins that you've been stomping pretty regularly for the past ten plus years. You almost feel sorry for how hapless a franchise they've become under Snyder. Sort of the same way you pity the Orioles.

All I can say is Redskins, Orioles, Towson. Andy, you are one loyal sumbitch!

Nope, they wore them against Green Bay, in conjuction with the 50-yr anniversary NFL Championship celebration which was that day.

Every year I come close to taking pity on them... then they win one game and the whole town thinks they're going to the SuperBowl and I'm back to hating them. The roller coaster down here for the past 15 years has really been a fun thing to watch as an outsider. None of them will admit that when they drafted Heath Shuler they all thought they were on the verge of greatness. Then again when they hired Spurrier... he was going to deliver them. Then Gibbs 2.0... he was going to bring them back to greatness.... then Horny for Zorny after a 6-2 start.... then Shanny... then DMac... then...

Regarding the throwbacks, I agree and so does this guy: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/4637 ... h-uniforms

I believe they are only wearing them one game versus Green Bay to honor the 50th anniversary of the Eagles beating the Packers for the NFL title in 1960 (Lombardi's only playoff loss, btw).

The current Eagles unis are just too damned close to Jax's for my liking.

I agree with that - the "rivalry" with the Skins has never been in the same vicinity as the Giants and certainly has never been the sheer level of hatred that is the rivalry with the cowgirls. Oddly, I think there's been plenty of respect for the Redskins over the years, especially back in the Gibbs days - you just couldn't detest them. You didn't like losing to them, but if you couldn't win you'd root for them over any of the other NFC East teams (although you would still root for lots of injuries - not career threatening, just enough to keep them out of the next Eagles game).
