Life would be more boring for most of us. :( :ohno:
NFL Players Association executive director DeMaurice Smith sees new signs that owners are preparing for a football-free 2011.
With support from Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, he asked fans to take the players' side.
Speaking at a tailgate-style fan luncheon a few blocks from Lambeau Field on Tuesday, Smith referred to a recent Sports Business Journal report that said the NFL is requiring banks that lend money to its teams to extend grace periods for loan defaults through the end of the 2011 season in the event of a lockout.
"That to me is a step where the owners are protecting themselves in the event that there is no season," Smith said.

well if they do a lockout lets hope some college take advantage and move some games to Sunday... that will allow FOX and ESPN maybe even CBS to jump in and air more games. It will help fans some

The problem with that scenario is that the B(C)$ elitists would likely do everything in their power to block FCS from that extra air time.

doing everything in their power to block the FCS implies that they actually consider the FCS as a threat. Which they don't. Those "BCS elitists" don't give a damn at all about the FCS, other than as an early-season warmup game.

Yes, if the NFL strikes, some college programs might move some of their games to Sunday. But it is likely to be some of the non-BCS "mid-major" FBS programs vying for a spot on a national network (or perhaps some of the bottom BCS teams, like much of the Big 12, who don't get much tv coverage). Though of course, that could have a trickle-down effect in that it might free up some spots on the regional or "college sports" networks who might pick up a few more FCS games to fill the void.
