"This presents a unique opportunity for our ownership group," said Red Sox principal owner John Henry. "Moreover, the synergy is perfect, as we are highly experienced in operating a second-fiddle sports franchise."

YES broadcasted Man U games pursuant to an Affiliation Agreement between the Yankees and Man U. APparently that deal ended after the 2008 season.

Why are you so opposed to this?

It seems to me that this is going to allow joint marketing, etc., with the opportunity to expand the Red Sox brand and name recognition in the United Kingdom (or North West England, at least) as well as the Liverpool FC brand in New England. A very solid business move picking up a valuable football franchise with world-wide name recognition.

I'm hoping Liverpool pulls a magpie this season (they currently sit in 18th place). Hodgson doesn't know what he is doing there, and he won't know how to spend the money even when/if he is given the go-ahead. He's not fit for top flight squads, he's a better fit for a 6-12 squads. I would love to see this end up being a sore on the Sox backside (and their bank roll).

Bullshit he is. He's as much a Man U fan as any Cowboys fan outside Texas is a Cowboys fan.

The problems at Anfield are much bigger than Hodgson.I am willing to give him a chance with some owners who know what they are doing before throwing him to the dogs. Probably wasn't the greatest signing we could have gotten and definitely not the worse we could have done. Wish we would have had the money to go after Mourinho at the time. Personally, I liked Rafa. Just one of those things though with the money issues and not being able to field a team. Didn't help that Torres has declined every year because he can't stay healthy

So a British court today allowed to sale to proceed. They said Hicks and Gillette cant replace anyone on the board to prevent the sale and that the board does have the legal right to make the sale.

So Hicks went crying to a Texas court who then granted a temp restraining order preventing the sale for now.

Now I am totally against this sale happening... but man is Hicks being a bitch or what....
