Sports Pet Peeve Thread

I noticed that the ESPN2 score crawler was giving pre-season hockey scores. What a waste of time in my opinion. They should not list pre-season scores on the crawler. What's next? George Carlin partial scores?
"Philadelphia 6....."
Anyone else have any sports related pet peeves?

I got one. On Saturday if I am watching TV in the evening and it is on ESPN, ESPN2, or ABC it will show NCAA football scores. Then it will show the top 25 scores then as soon as it shows 5 or 6 of the rest of the football teams it will go to a commercial and when it comes back it is showing Golf or Basketball or something. I guess the top 25 is the most popular but come on. I am just trying to see who won and lost. I don't have a computer around me at all times.

That is a good one.
Mine - the fawning Yankee/Red Sox coverage that ESPN shoves down our throat

Definately will be a Griz fan that night. In Durham, or at a tourney?

Mine are Griz related, there used to be a few guys in our section that would do the Wolfman act at Griz games. I have a hard time keeping my mouth shut so I would call them out and ridicule them for their assinine statements during the game and the booing of some of the players every single time they would do it. I would ask them things like how much football they had played, what was on their coaching resume, how many times they had ever had 20,000 people watch them do ANYTHING. We don't seem to have those problems in our section anymore.

Another pet peeve of mine occured at the end of the Steelers Eagles game last Sunday.
The Steelers trailed 15-6 with about 2 minutes remaining in the game. They had the ball around the Eagles 20 yard line. On 4th and long - they went for it!? They needed a touchdown and a field goal. I don't know why they didn't kick the FG and make it 15-9.
I've seen other coaches do the same thing. I don't understand why they are reluctant to kick the FG first.

Another pet peeve of mine is the seemingly never ending argument over which is the best FCS conference: the SoCon or the CAA?

Agreed, which makes the SoCon/CAA argument all the more silly.

My biggest pet peeves are commercials before and after kickoffs, and watching baseball players adjust their damn batting gloves between every pitch.
And I'll second what Ursus said, we use to have the same problem in our section (back seat coaches).
While I'm at it, throw in chearleaders deciding to throw footballs into the stands during a big third down play, and touch fouls in basketball, and golfers taking five minutes to line up a five foot put, and the stupid player introductions on NFL games, and smack talk from players who are losing, and of course east coast bias

...I better stop before my blood pressure rises too much!

Sergio Garcia's waggles....
Nomar Garciapara's batting glove routine....
Athletes who "cross" themselves and point to the sky....
kickoffs, punts, interceptions, TD's, homeruns, strikeouts, etc., being "sponsored" by some company....
Tiger love....
The fact that you have to be quiet at a golf course....
The fact that DirectTV sells itself as giving you 20 FoxSports channels, but then blacks out the professional sporting events....

I got one that just burns me up to no end. It is Friday night or better yet Saturday night after a Griz game. there are 3 people sitting at the bar, just talking, just taking up space. Not drinking and not letting anybody squeeze in and get a drink. They have their chairs so far apart that they have to lean in to talk to each other. WTF!!! sit closer or go sit somewhere else and do your fucking talking. the bar is for getting drinks not you 3 Brosephfs.

Fans starting the "wave" when the Griz have the ball!
Today, at the CWU/Griz game, was the first time I can remember it starting when the opposing team was on offense...my memo must have been received!??!

The wave is one of the stupidest old hack things that is an embarrassment at WaGriz. I refuse to do the stupid thing and have asked many around me how stupid you have to be not to know that the wave if it is ever done is only done when YOUR team is on defense. Pathetic idiots.

I agree with the bar thing Grizza but it never stops me from just putting an arm in there and ordering my beer. I don't give a shit if they're discussing a funeral...I need a beer and they are standing between me and said beer. That won't slow me down a bit. I am often the guy sitting there while others are trying to get a beer and if they are acting timid I will just place their order for them.

There is a difference if you and a pal are sitting at the bar drinking, it was mainly a rant about how there would be 3 people taking up 12 feet of prime bar space. That bar space is for everybody, not just the 3 asswipes sitting there doing nothing.
