2 weeks ago the Redskins benched Donavan McNabb late in the game for issues running the two-minute offense. Since then Coach Shanahan has backtracked saying the move was body related, not brain related... but McNabb's ability to come through in the clutch in the two-minute offense has long been an issue (Remember Super Bowl 38 Eagles fans?)

So how does the Redskins handle the situation?

A 5 year $78 million contract extension....

That's just real funny stuff right there.

No wonder they keep leaving me voicemails asking if I want to buy season tickets...gotta pay for that boondoggle somehow.

Yeah. It was just an apology for benching him two weeks ago. The Eagles also gave him more money after he was benched a few years ago against the Ravens.

Right now I bet the Redskins wish they had an option on getting the $3 million back.

Yep, ESPN's $40M report yesterday turned out to be erroneous. With the 2011 lockout looming, a $40M guarantee would have been pretty foolish.

According to Sal Palantonio (who I like as a football reporter) everyone involved with the contract was lying about the details, they were trying to spin things so that everyone looked good. Add to that ESPN was in a hurry to break a story and they end up looking silly.
