What happened to Linebrink? He was almost lights out as part of a three-headed monster with San Diego.

He got paid to come to Chicago and was lousy, no control, hit all over thr field, all while enjoying 4 mil a yr, had his role reduced to mop up guy, just couldnt be relied upon

Yeah. You're probably right. I mean, who wants a guy who hit 39 dingers, drove in 111 and batted .312 (all while striking out less than HALF the number of times as Reynolds or Upton) in their lineup anyways?
