Per Double XX Sports in San Diego, the Tampa Bay Devil Rays have traded All-Star shortstop Jason Bartlett (from MY hometown of Lodi, CA) to the Padres.

Could be a big move as the Pads look to rebuild.

Tampa Bay says reports of a deal are premature.

Interesting twist: #Rays now say reports of Bartlett trade are premature, and no announcement is coming tonight.

From what I understand, Bartlett's a fan favorite in Tampa. The longer they keep a lid on this, the longer they can put off DC.

Bartlett was a fan favorite in MN too - but methinks he wears out his welcome...

ironic that he's going back to San Diego all these years later...

While he never played for the big club, Bartlett was apparently in their minor league chain before getting traded.

There was speculation up here in NorCal that he'd go to the Giants to be closer to home. Though why he'd even consider that after trying to punk his hometown Lodi Parks and Rec Department for an $80K appearance fee is beyond me. (That's a rumor I heard around town awhile back.)
