Your Team's Best WS titles

What are your favorite baseball team's
five best or memorable WS titles that you witnessed during your lifetime.
Here are mine:
1998 -- Yankees run the table, go 125-50, and prove to be the best baseball team ever.
1977 -- My first taste of a WS championship.
1996 -- First time I was ever there in person when the Yanks clinched a World title.
2009 -- Another great run and another World title by the homegrown core.
1978 -- Munson-led dynasty records second straight.
I know in limiting this to five, you'll be forced to leave a lot of great memories off the list. I know I had to.
But that's what makes this fun -- choosing out of all the championships your team has won during your memory, which ones mean the most to you.

You don't remember '63 or '65. And you switched favorite teams at some point? Only girls do that.

I switched favorite teams when the city I live in got a major league team. Prior to that I was born and raised a Dodgers fan.

Your city didn't get a major league team. It got the Diamondbacks.

1984 Detroit Tigers 104-58, started 35-5, finished with 7-1 post-season record, greatest season ever.
1968 Detroit Tigers 103-59, defeats Hall of Fame, star stacked St Louis Cardinals in World Series, Denny McLain 31-6
1935 Detroit Tigers 93-58, defeated Chicago Cubs in World Series, Team batting average of .290, Greenberg 170 RBI
1945 Detroit Tigers 88-65, defeated Chicago Cubs in their last World Series Appearance, Greenberg returns from WWII
I've met in person Jack Morris from the 1984 team, Al Kaline from the 68 team and Hal Newhauser from the 1945 team. Denny McLain is in town this weekend. McLain was my first glimpse of a super star sports hero going bad, and he really went bad.

What, no '82 Kirkland Washington with Cody Webster on the mound and at the plate? They were Tapei's first loss in 30 something games.

And they're 1-0 against your vaunted Yankmees.

Actually, not WS but all the Phillies playoffs in the late 70's left me with Ulcers
1980 - the LCS was way better than the WS but I'll take the WS
win over the Royals (and George "I can't do anything wrong" Brett)
Few and far between for me so I have to go to 2008 as the next.
BTW - I remember the 65 WS

Not to worry. The Dbacks have a great up and coming first baseman. I told you guys to keep an eye on him when he was drafted in 2009.

Comments From BCF.com
September 21, 2010--Paul was awarded the MiLB Round Tripper Award for Class A
December 1, 2010--Paul classified as a Topps Class A All-Star
His profile on MiLB.com has him in Double-A. It's amazing that he has hit 53 homers in the minors already. Can't wait to draft him onto my fantasy baseball leagues in a few years.

1987 - First time, brought the city together in a way I can't fathom nowdays... 55,000 showed up when they won the LCS to welcome them home... and there were 20,000 on the bridges and over passes and street corners from the airport all the way in to down town... (i remember being at the parade - we got a spot at the state capitol for the rally - it was great)
1991 - the series everyone else remembers - the greatest world series ever - i remember saying after game 6 "how can it get any better?" then game 7 happened...
1924 - the Big Train gets his ring in an improbable season.

How did Joe allow himself to walk into that? He must really be shaken.

Not my team, but the Baltimore Orioles from 1966 to 1971 were an awesome team winning 2 series and losing 2. Beating the 1966 Dodgers in their prime and a young Big Red Machine in 1970, getting upset by the Miracle Mets and losing to a great 1971 Pittsburgh Pirates team. I didn't like them because they beat out the Tigers most years, and no one ever was concerned about the hapless Yankees back then.

Gee, it's a real mystery why people hate the Yankees and their fans.

Not only that, but the greatest closer ever blew a Game 7 save against a scrub team. That's gonna tarnish some of that Hall of Fame legacy. He still gets in, but blowing a Game 7 save against a non-major league team just has to sting a little. Poor Joe.

Even worse, that blooper that Riveria gave up in the 9th could have been caught by Jeter, had he not given up on it.

Jeter's probably the most overrated player of all time, especially in the playoffs. It's pure luck. But he should have won the Cy Young this year.

Hah! Look at the fans of all the losers attacking the fan of the team with the most wins ever.
Losers hate the winners in America. Music to my ears.
Peasants. You can all eat cake.

Joltin' Joe has left and gone away
