Tom Brady

Post by UNHWildCats »

Now has gone 310 pass attempts without an INT passing Bernie Kosar for the NFL record. If he finishes the game without an INT he will extend to 7 games his NFL record with atleast 2 TDs and 0 INT and will have gone 10 games without a pick.

Eh, Brady's OK. For the Patriots, I'd MUCH rather have Grogan. But that's just the old fart in me.

Since SH already named his favorite Patriots QB, I'm gonna go with Tony Eason

Brady is having a great season to be honest.

Best player in the NFL, and the second best isn't even close. Going to go down as the greatest QB to ever play the game.

You would put Brady down as better than Graham, Waterfield, Unitas, Starr, Staubach, and Montana?!?

the first 2 definitely because I've never heard of them. the next 3 probably because the game is way different today than it was 30 years ago. Montana was pretty good himself but i wasn't around to watch him. I think Manning, Brady, Elway, Favre, and Montana are probably top 5 in no order

Well, let's see....

Otto Graham won all four All-American Football Conference titles with the original Cleveland Browns and then proceded to take the Browns to ten straight NFL Championship Games when the Browns joined the NFL after the AAFC folded. Bob Waterfield was a do-everything QB-P-K-S who beat the Sammy Baugh-led Washington Redskins with his foot in the 1945 NFL Championship Game (another crap-weather game) before taking his Cleveland Rams to Los Angeles. (He also had the good fortune to be married to the Hollywood It-Girl of the day, Jayne Mansfield.)

BTW, using that changing of the game argument makes you come across as a modern elitist who thinks that the likes of Alex Smith is better than a dead HOFer simply because the game is "better" now. Now, I know I'm exaggerating here to a degree, but devaluing HOFers just because they're retired really doesn't work.

As an analogy then - With that argument Maguire is assuredly better than Maris because the game changed....they didn't have steroids in the 60's!

Oh, 'roids were around in the '60's, CatMom. They just weren't as big a deal back then as they are now, particularly in the more popular sports like baseball and football. They were most well known in weight lifting, but they did exist.

I know, it was an analogy for this particular context.

WRs still catch, RBs still run, TDs are still scored. That has not changed and the QB orchestrated it all then, as now. If you weren't alive to see the game then, you can't compare it to the game now.
There were some badass D's back then and those QBs had them to contend with, so that hasn't changed either.
Most players are bigger, faster stronger. It doesn't change the fact that those named are legends.

Yes, CM. I'd love to see how Brady would deal with the likes of Ed Sprinkle, who used to knock QBs out with some regularlity, just with his cocked shoulder.

Well, I'll be waiting with open, ready-to-console arms when she finally figures that out.
