So, a sucky QB goes postal on a head coach during a game, and the COACH gets the axe?

Smith ought to be cleaning latrines. That POS absolutely SUCKS as a quarterback.

Singletary should have never been a head coach. He is terrible.

Give me a break. How do you justify that ignorant remark? You can't know before hiring someone if they're going to be good or not. You have to give them a chance.

In THIS case, it's not his coaching. It's his being made a scapegoat for the failure of the front office to sign decent players. While I've always felt he'd be a better fit as HC in CHI, two years is nowhere near enough time to make this sort of decision. Panicky firings like this only serve to lengthen the time in the cellar because there is no continuity.

Singletary's bluntness was cool at first, but now it's grown old. :coffee:

No, he is terrible. 49er's have some talent. He doesn't know how to use it.

I think Singletary will be the next coach in Chicago. For the Whiners?

I have no clue, but I'd love for them to consider the following:

1. John Volek, AD Sierra College
2. John Fassel, Special Teams Coordinator Oakland Raiders
3. Mike Canales, OC and Associate Head Coach, North Texas

You just put together the most retarded list of options I've ever seen when considering who the 49ers should consider.

This epic failure falls on the coach. Normally I'll defend a coach because the players still have to make plays but damn.

It's clear Singletary couldn't get through to the players. His style of coaching, his methods, his system, everything that was him failed. He took one of the more talented teams and had them finish sub .500, and in a decent division they were eliminated from playoffs 4 weeks ago. The only reason he kept his long as he did because he could still say "We can still make the playoffs" because he was in the worst division in football. The winner of the division can have 7 wins...yep a 7-9 team can win the division and host a playoff game. The best possible record to come from the division will be the ST. LOUIS RAMS, who have started a rookie at QB all season long, at 8-8 if they win next Sunday night.

By THAT argument, clenz, the Whiners may NEVER have won even ONE Super Bowl. Bill Walsh was 2-14 his first year. The typical thing nowadays is to can ANY coach after 2-14....

This is his 3rd season as head coach. He went:
4-5 after taking over in 2008, I believe
8-8 in 2009
5-10 this year

That is 17-23.

Let's look past the record. Let's look at his relationship with his players, lets look at how his players play for him, see how they respond to his style, see how they work for him. Every week it seemed like there was a story or two about how he got in a fight on the sideline or locker room or practice field with a player. His ENTIRE SYSTEM was a failure. He may be a good coach with a roster that fits his system. The owners had a choice: revamp the ENTIRE ROSTER to get players that MIGHT fit with Mike OR get rid of Mike.

I get it, you are a moron, but these things are as simple as your simple mind can comprehend.

Look for a 49er Super Bowl appearance in the next 5 years with Harbaugh.

Fantasy owners should take note of the QB and WR combo's coming their way in the Bay area.

This is why the NFL is retarded. A third of the teams axe their coach every year because they need to quell their idiot scapegoating fans.

Singletary
17-23
Belicheck's first three years in his two stints
20-28
25-23

Winning in the NFL goes far beyond your coach. Hopefully they hire Harbaugh, even though he'd be on the hotseat after 2 years if they don't win 10 games
