America's Team?

ESPN has a story up claiming Pittsburgh Steelers are the real America's Team... but just like anyone claiming Dallas or Green Bay are America's Team... they are wrong.... and no I wont try to take the title for the New England Patriots.

Each of those four teams mentioned in the previous paragraph have more haters than fans in America, so how can they be America's Team?

So who is America's Team?

The US Olympics team for one, and really any National team whether its the World Cup squad or the men and ladies skating for world titles in non Olympic years.

Of course there is another America's Team... They have been the undisputed kings of their domain for years... decades... centuries... Ladies and Gentlemen... America's Team!

who.
gives.
a.
shit?

still better than who's next? who's more now? and sports rushmores...

It's the Jets...duh

Right Travis?

Hell, they beat the Patriots TWICE this season.

Most teams just hope to beat them twice in a hundred years

America's Team is Dallas. Period. It was a nickname given to them, albeit in an unintentional way. There was a documentary about them called America's Team. It wasn't meant to stick but it did. So that is just their nickname. It's not something meant to be shifted to whoever is most popular at the time.

I hate ESPN! All they do is provide me with access to HUNDREDS of games from just about every major/not so major sport in the world, on a handful of channels, week in and week out! And don't even get me started on their website/s...they have everything sports related!! Did you know you can even watch Cricket from Bangladesh on one of their websites (Banglaahfuckherecomesanother cyclone.com or something like that) True story. Fuck that, we don't need nobody giving us access to all things sports 24/7/365!! Fuck you ESPN and shove your convenience right up your ass.

For football it's not even close. It's the Cincinnati Bengals.

But, they don't show any curling, which renders them basically worthless in my book.

But they do show snookers and darts, so that's a wash plus one.

Funny you say that... Mrs89 wants to open a curling center. I'm not kidding. There's one about 20 miles from us that is currently sold out through May. :|

It was an NFL team highlight film. Documentary? Come on, it was never scientific and it was in dispute as soon as it was mouthed. You can write "period" as often as you like and it will always be something that is in dispute.

Dude, curling rocks!!! (the pun was clearly intended). Me and the Mrs. may actually join a curling league in the near future - two different ice rinks near us have curling leagues now. Definitely a cool game. (again, pun intended!).

Ah, those were the days. If there was a better way to wast three hours after class than watching hot Danish curlers, I never found it.

Hopefully you bought all the right gear. A proper set of curling pants are probably the most single important investment you can make.

Sorry I chose the wrong word. Failed again. :ohno:

The fact of it is that is why they began to be called America's Team. It was a nickname given to them that stuck. It isn't something meant to be passed around. Same as any other nickname.

Yup. AFAIK, it's the only curling center for a hundred miles. I think they have a bar there. Seems like it would be a great social event. The new bowling alleys. :thumb:

Ha! I had picked those pants out about a month before the Olympics as something I wanted for golf. They are made by Loud Mouth which is the ugly stuff John Daly wears.

Well if it's for golf, you have to go with knickerbockers.

Have you tried to go in there for 'Drop-Ins' on saturday mornings or weekday afternoons? Not sure if that's first-come, first-serve or by reservation. Otherwise looks like the place is totally booked for leagues.

The winter olympics really are some of the best couple of weeks of TV viewing, IMHO. :thumb:

The fact the Chinese aren't good at them yet is also a plus.

I haven't tried at all. I know I would love curling... love the ice, love shuffleboard (table not concrete), love Danish chicks... :thumb:

I'm up there every other week for hockey games. They have three rinks and the curling center has it's own entrance. I was going to venture over there last week, but I had to rush back home for next event.
