LOS ANGELES – In a stunning result that likely will raise questions about the enshrinement process for the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, Indiana Pacers star guard Reggie Miller failed to make the list of finalists for the 2011 induction class, sources told Yahoo! Sports.

Meh. Ray Allen has his 3-point record now, what else does he have going for him? :coffee:

I agree - why the uproar. The article says he was a 5 time all star in his 18 years. If Spike Lee wasn't so demonstrative as a fan, would we care? Besides, his sister was the better player. :thumb:

Everyone ahead of him on the all time scoring list is in the HOF.. or will be (O'Neal & Bryant) when they retire.

Gotta play defense too. Hard to remember a more porous defender than Miller was. And he didn't win a title. He was a great 3 point shooter, and that's where his HOF case ends. Not hard to see why he would be a borderline HOF'er.

Interesting way to argue it to. If Miller gets in, does that mean that we now have to put the guy directly behind him on the scoring list in too? And then the guy after him starts having a good case. Where is the line drawn as it ultimately has to be?

he's 17th all time in scoring.... most of the people directly behind him are also in the HOF or will be when they retire....

In the 65 years the NBA has been in existance, of the thousands who have played the game... only 16 have scored more points than Miller.

It would be like leaving Willie McCovey out of the HOF.

I think even Willie McCovey could play better basketball defense than Reggie Miller did. :thumb:

my memory of Reggie was a guy who could carry a team with his shooting when he was on... or bury them when he was cold...

I too remember him as a dog shit defender...

if not for the 95 playoffs, i'm skeptical that too many people would be upset. (outside the state of Indiana)

Well, TTBF, I think a few old-school U$C fans might object to Miller's being left out. But other than that, you're right.

I also think it's a joke that nutcase Rodman might actually get in.

Now see, I can agree with that. Rodman, for all his lunacy, was one hell of a player. He's got a lot of rings to show for it too.

Yes.

His antics were what they were... but his on court performance was Hall of Fame worthy.

By THAT argument, PER deserves admission to Cooperstown. And in THAT case, I agree.

If Reggie Miller could have played against the Knicks every night he'd be a HOF'er for sure. ;)

And a great rebounder as well. Rodman many have been zany off the court, but he was serious on it. He used to watch films of opposing players, learn their shot tendencies and study where the ball would likely bounce if they missed a shot. He was often in the best rebounding position before the shot was even taken.

Rodman never illegally bet on his sport, and then lied about it.
