For you Wildcat fans (all 2-3 of you) out there ...

Since 1954, they have had 37 regular center fielders with only Monday leaving lasting impression

Through the years, the Cubs have misplaced many vital items — among them Lou Brock and Greg Maddux's contract extension. But the part they have spent the most time searching for is a center fielder to build around.

Hope springs eternal in Cubbieland. I just hope that this isn't the kiss of death for Szczur's career.

considering that Aramis Ramirez is the only decent 3b they've had since Ron Santo retired... i think the reason they haven't won a world series in 103 years has become clearer... they are systemically incapable of fielding a team of major league talent...

Szczur is probably 2-3 years away, but i'm sorry to say that his ceiling is probably a fourth outfielder unless he shows he's a REALLY good defender.

Projecting the time to the majors for players who have only played 25 games of minor league ball, especially at a very low level of minor league ball, is a pretty inexact science. 2-3 years would be a fairly optimistic timeframe, especially for someone with a ceiling as you describe. There's little need to rush a 4th outfielder to the majors.

if he was with the twins it would be more like 7 years... (we NEVER promote prospects... they take forever coming through our system)

No shit.

I'm hoping to see B.J. Hermsen move to AA ball this year. Kid has major upside.
