Don't know if there's a thread about this already but how about Minnesota Duluth winning both the NCAA Division II national football championship with an undefeated season during which they outscored opponents by an average of 40-12 then following that up by beating Michigan in the title game to win the NCAA national hockey championship?
Pretty darned impressive if you asked me.

It certainly is impressive. There was some discussion of this in the Frozen Four thread in the Other College Sports forum.

Invite JBB into the thread. He loves to discuss DII football.

It is a rock solid program. They set out to try and compete against the NDs but missed out as they left the NCC, and it ultimately folded. They have the stuff to play bigger football and obviously hockey. I have been to their stadium, and It looks to me like it can be expanded.

but it won't be.
UM-Twin Cities will never allow another D-I school in the state. letting them have hockey is all they'll ever get.

Which is so stupid. States with one or less D-I schools:
Alaska (zero)
Minnesota (one)
Vermont (one)
Wyoming (one, but 100% of 4-year schools)
If UM-TC is so afraid of another DI program stealing their thunder, they really should just drop athletics, completely.

I agree that it is stupid. In Minny there certainly should be another DI school.
But for some states, having 1 DI program is more than plenty. Alaska, Vermont?

Vermont is fine with one. Alaska could use one or two.
