NBA playoff predictions

Season is over. Griffith and the Clips are gone (sorry ESPN). Here are my predictions for the NBA playoffs...

EASTERN CONFERENCE

INDIANA PACERS (8)/CHICAGO BULLS (1)---Bulls have Derrick Rose leading the team. Bulls have home court through the playoffs. Pacers don't even have Reggie Miller (as if that would help)...Bulls in 5.

ATLANTA HAWKS (5)/ORLANDO MAGIC (4)---Magic do have Dwight Howard in the middle and are led by Jameer Nelson out front, which makes one wonder how they are #4 and how they lost the season series to the Hawks. The Hawks played to their competition which should make it easy to get up for games in the playoffs...Hawks in 6.

PHILADELPHIA 76ERS (7)/MIAMI HEAT (2)---Getting LeBron James and Chris Bosh was supposed to give the Heat multiple championships, not give them second in the East. Doug Collins was a good hire for the Sixers, but the Heat have too much in this series...Heat in 5.

NEW YORK KNICKS (6)/BOSTON CELTICS (3)---Carmelo Anthony was supposed to get the Knicks over the hump, yet Denver ended with a better record post trade than the Knicks. The Celtics may be getting older, but they are still the Celtics...Celtics in 6.

WESTERN CONFERENCE

MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES (8)/SAN ANTONIO SPURS (1)---Ginobli may miss the first game and the rest of the Spurs are getting older. There is some thought that the Grizzlies may have rested their players too early to avoid the Mavs and Lakers. Be careful what you wish for...Spurs in 5.

DENVER NUGGETS (5)/OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER (4)---The Nuggets unloaded their distraction (Anthony) at the trade deadline, then actually improved their standing by the end. The Thunder got Perkins to complement both Durant and Westbrook making them dangerous...Thunder in 6.

NEW ORLEANS HORNETS (7)/LOS ANGELES LAKERS (2)---A bad matchup for the Hornets as they were swept by the Lakers during the season. Even with Bynum at limited strength, there is just too much power for the Hornets to think they can take this...Lakers in 5.

PORTLAND TRAIL BLAZERS (6)/DALLAS MAVERICKS (3)---The Blazers dealt with major injuries at the beginning of the year which led to the emergence of LaMarcus Aldridge. Now they are just starting to get healthy. The Mavericks still have Nowitzki and Kidd to lead them. The Blazers took two games from the Mavericks at the end of the year so the confidence is there...Blazers in 6.

CONFERENCE SEMI-FINALS

ATLANTA HAWKS (5)/CHICAGO BULLS (1)---Bulls too much for the Hawks...Bulls in 5.

BOSTON CELTICS (3)/MIAMI HEAT (2)---In tight games, the Heat don't know who to go to. The Celtics know...Celtics in 6.

OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER (4)/SAN ANTONIO SPURS (1)---The Spurs are old, the Thunder are young and energetic...Thunder in 6.

PORTLAND TRAIL BLAZERS (6)/LOS ANGELES LAKERS (2)---Blazers healthy and dangerous, but the Lakers should have Bynum and Blake back and won't lose at home...Lakers in 7.

CONFERENCE FINALS

BOSTON CELTICS (3)/CHICAGO BULLS (1)---The Bulls may be the future, but the last few years showed never count the Celtics out...Celtics in 7.

OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER (4)/LOS ANGELES LAKERS (2)---Kobe and company say "not yet" to Durant and company...Lakers in 6.

NBA FINALS

BOSTON CELTICS/LOS ANGELES LAKERS---Phil Jackson rides off in the sunset Hollywood style...Lakers in 5.

Lakers won't make it. Chicken POX will keep them from making the finals.

I haven't watched much NBA, and the only news we get around here is the will-they or won't-they BS saga with the Kings/Royals. But I'll take a stab at it anyways.

EASTERN CONFERENCE

INDIANA PACERS (8)/CHICAGO BULLS (1)---Bulls sweep.

ATLANTA HAWKS (5)/ORLANDO MAGIC (4)---Hotlanta in 7.

PHILADELPHIA 76ERS (7)/MIAMI HEAT (2)---The Big Three take a dump. Sixers in 5.

NEW YORK KNICKS (6)/BOSTON CELTICS (3)---Celtics sweep.

WESTERN CONFERENCE

MEMPHIS GRIZZLIES (8)/SAN ANTONIO SPURS (1)---Spurs sweep.

DENVER NUGGETS (5)/OKLAHOMA CITY THUNDER (4)---Denver in 5.

NEW ORLEANS HORNETS (7)/LOS ANGELES LAKERS (2)---Lake Show sweep.

PORTLAND TRAIL BLAZERS (6)/DALLAS MAVERICKS (3)---Dallas in 5.

CONFERENCE SEMI-FINALS

ATLANTA HAWKS (5)/CHICAGO BULLS (1)---Bulls sweep.

BOSTON CELTICS (3)/PHILADELPHIA 76ers(7)---Celtics in 5.

DENVER NUGGETS(5)/SAN ANTONIO SPURS (1)---Spurs in 5.

DALLAS MAVERICKS (3)/LOS ANGELES LAKERS (2)---Mavs in 5.

CONFERENCE FINALS

BOSTON CELTICS (3)/CHICAGO BULLS (1)---Celtics in 7.

DALLAS MAVERICKS (3)/SAN ANTONIO SPURS (1)---Spurs in 6.

NBA FINALS

BOSTON CELTICS/SAN ANTONIO SPURS---Celtics in 6.

Am I the only one around that thinks that Kobe, Bynum, and Artest will be getting the Chicken Pox and get laid up for a week and the Lakers lose out? None of them have ever had the Pox before so it will do a number on them if they get it.

As a Blazer fan (and consequently a Laker hater), I was not going to be the one standing on a mountaintop shouting "A pox on the Lakers and all their fans!".

Although I would really want to... :D

I predict there will be a lot of travelling calls that don't get called, many fouls that aren't really fouls, a lot of scoring that goes uncontested... :coffee:

Did anyone see what the Lakers had for the halftime show last night? I was at the bar and the entire bar was just in awe of that shit. Like a train wreck, you know you don't want to see but just have to watch. WHY??? The TV station couldn't even show it for more than a couple of seconds and then cut away. Some of the faces in the background were priceless.

I'm too lazy to look it up, but when was the last time a 5-seed or higher made it to the NBA Finals. The NBA has some of the most anti-climatic playoffs in sports.

I'll just point this out - in zero way do I think the Sixers are as good as the Heat or could realistically challenge them in a 7-game series, but the Big 3, in 125 minutes of combined play last night committed a total of 2 fouls??

Bulls are choking, 2 and a half men have tied the game in the last minute.

Dallas vs 2 1/2 men in the finals.

Dallas goes up 3-2 on a day Lebron James was seen mocking Dirk's cough in the tunnel after shoot-around. Might just have been Lebron choking.

Well, one win away now from having the whole sports world laugh at Lebron for the next 365 days. How sweet that would be! :thumb:

I would love it if Lebron has to wait another year for a ring, possibly two with a possible lockout next year. However, even though I desperately want the Mavs to win, I'm not sure they can go to Miami and win a game. Gonna be tough.

I can only hope that the MAVS win in Miami. Oh boy would I love to be a fly on the wall in their locker room after the game.

I would absolutely love to see that. However, it would be very hard to believe that being on a team with Bosh and Wade they'd never win at least one championship.
