Today We Honor A Great Man in Lodi....

Well, we did Coach Don Womble's funeral at the end of last year. But today we dedicate Don Womble Track and Field. Fundraising is still going on to replace our old dirt track with an all-weather one. The Let's Get Ready to Womble 24-Hour Relay fundraiser generated about $25K for the job. But we're going to risk rain to dedicate the original facility for him this afternoon at 3. Foul weather parade puts it in the school theater.

Too bad we had to do this inside the theater. This isn't our primary football field (the WPA-era Grape Bowl serves as that for both Lodi and Tokay Highs), but it has been used for football in the past, and still serves as a practice field and a place for junior football in addition to PE and track and field.
