According to Peter Gammons, the New York Yankees and several other teams tried to persuade Andrew Miller to exercise his opt-out with Boston Wednesday, the Sox were able to convince Miller to remain by assuring him a call-up early next week. Boston yesterday confirmed Miller will start for Boston on Monday.
Miller decided to stay with Boston based on the assurance he would be called up as well as the confidence Boston had in him and the investment the team made in helping him get back on track.

This is the Andrew Miller who is 15-26, with an ERA of 5.84, and a WHIP of 1.736 through 5 years of major league play (yes, I know, he's been "dominant" the last few weeks in Pawtucket)? And he could've been a free agent now if the Red Sox didn't promote him, correct? Could you find a more obscure and unimportant topic? Gammons is starting to not even be able to see the mountain he climbed over it's so far in the past.
