Joe West and Angel Hernandez should be fired

Don't know if anyone is watching the Angels/Tigers game tonight (on MLBnet) - these two - already two power-tripping assclowns - have spent the night making themselves the story of the game... screwing with Verlander for "going to the mouth" that cost him the only run of the game - tossing Bobby Abreu in the 1st for literally ASKING where called strike three was located... (they also ran Leyland - and Verlander - after he was lifted)

just insane...

Still pissed at Joe West for the bogus interference call on Robinson Cano which might have cost the Yankees a chance to win Game 5 of the 2005 ALDS against the Angels. He took the Yankees out of a chance at a big inning.

There's a reason he's called "Cowboy", and it's not because he rides a horse and dresses like he's from Montana.

MLB is loaded with mediocre-to-poor umps who don't know the rules and make themselves the center of attention -- for the wrong reasons. West and Hernandez are among the worst. Dan Iassogna and C.B. Bucknor are also right up there in terms of overall suckage. :ohno:

Joe West has been perhaps the worst umpire in the majors for well over a decade now. Nothing new here.

generally i can put up with his shit because i only see him sticking it to ozzie guillen all the time... and he's not seemingly anti-twins in any particular way... Todd Tichnor on the other hand... the few times this clown has been up from AAA to cover for someone - he has thrown someone from the Twins out after blowing a call... including Mike Redmond in a game in '09 - the only time in his career where he got the gate.

Don Denkinger

Worst MLB UMP EVER in the history of the game

Period.

Single-handedly took the 1985 World Series away from the Cardinals.

Epic Douche Bag

That single handedly changed the outcome of the world series

comparing that to a pissing and moaning match over balls and strikes in a meaningless (comparatively) pre all-star break game is dum

No, it did not "single handedly" change the outcome of an entire 7 game series. It was one play.

THIS. THIS. THIS.

Much like Bartman wasn't responsible for the Cubs collapse in the 2003 NLCS - the teams inability to get the f over one bad call caused the collapse. in BOTH cases they still had a Game 7 to play - but they CHOKED.

sabermetrics says otherwise

http://baseballanalysts.com/archives/20 ... play_1.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

that one single blown call trippled the royals probability of winning game 6.

therefore, changing the outcome of the series FROM a cardinals win in 6 TO a forced game 7

If it were game 7 you'd have a case.
And this is coming from a person who still curses that a-hole punk named Jeffery Maher.

Sabermetrics also say that Billy Beane is the greatest GM in this history of mankind. But here in the real world, his teams have never sniffed a championship.

Within the past two weeks we have had a batter strike out on a 4-2 count, and another batter take first base on a 3-2 count. In the latter case, the runner scored the winning run in the game (1-0).

As far as the worst umpire, I vote for Phil Cuzzi.

and they still had a 50/50 shot at winning Game 7.

Brought back memories of Joaquin Andujar's tantrum. Haven't thought about him in 20 years!

Even if you are right, it doesn't make Denkinger the worst umpire of all time, or even a bad ump. Every ump will blow calls, Denkinger blew his at a horrible time.

West goes out fo his way to be part of the story, and has done so for many years.

I can forgive the guy who screws up while trying to do his job, I can't forgive the guy who screws up repeatedly while doing something that he shouldn't be.

From what I hear, the Phillies did file a protest with MLB. I'm not optimistic that the call will be overturned.

The umps can review a play to determine if the ball was a home run or not. They are not allowed to review interference calls (unless they think it affected a homerun).

Joe West has stated that the umps reviewed the play to see if the ball was a HR. Even if he's lying I think that will be hard to prove. My guess is that the call stands.

I was watching the game yesterday when this play happened. Plainly West reviewed the play to see if it was fan interference. But he said he was reviewing to see if it was a homer, then saw the fan interference. Sure, Joe!

I think West was lying. I think he screwed up in choosing to go to replay and then lied about it afterwards to cover himself.

The Phillies have a pretty comfortable lead in the division, they may be better off losing this challenge as opposed to having to make a special trip to Fla to replay the last few innings of this game.

Again, I was shocked, just shocked, to see that Joe West was at the center of another blunder by an officiating crew.

Joe West still has never realized that people are NOT there to see him.
