His bank account isn't looking too bad though.

So long as you're not a Washington Natinals fan or official.
That is one expensive bust.
And just think. Only six years and another $116M left on his contract after 2011! You go Natinals!

as a closet White Sox fan, I'd GLADLY trade either Rios or Dunn for Werth..............

Yeah, but how many times has Werth been picked off second base while the batter is being intentionally walked???

Don't miss Werth a bit.

Even Nats fans are crushing him. There's a bar in DC that is offering PBR pounders during this Sunday's game & charging whatever Werth is hitting.

You beat me to the punch, loyal 610WIP listener!
The bar is Kelly's btw. Even $2.11 is high for PBR, IMHO.

I was even in the car at lunch and flipping between WIP, WFAN, and 950 and I heard the same story. Gosh, what a bummer for Werth.

Werth is starting to come out of it. He has been crushing the ball with bad luck for a week. Last night, they were falling.

Yeah, I did catch some of the encore of last night's game and Werth was 2/3 with a dinger when I was watching.
Don't get me wrong. I liked Werth. I wouldn't turn down $126M either, but it's fun to watch the Washington Expos flounder.

Werth's average skyrocketed to .218 last night, after hitting 3/5 with 1HR and 2RBI.

I have no doubt that Werth will be able to put together a torrid month, maybe two, and be able to put up a season number that won't look too bad, and will be able to overcome the 4 months of mediocre at best ball playing. It's what he does. I don't begrudge him taking the money he did, but I reserve the right to laugh at him as he toils in futility in Washington.

Well folks, we're getting well into August and Jayson Werth still hasn't managed to best Cliff Lee at the plate.
Lee: .226
Werth: .224
This one may go right down to the wire!

I think Werth will end up around .240. And Lee at .250!

I just looked into this a little further:
AB per HR:
Lee - 26.5
Werth - 31.3
AB per RBI:
Lee - 7.5
Werth - 9.5
