Now that he has hit # 600, I wouldn't be suprised if the Twins trade him to a contender.

Congrats! He might be one of the more underappreciated players in all of Major League Baseball.

Me too, or in Cleveland last weekend.

Thome has never really gotten his due -- mMaybe because his typical season has always been eclipsed by some guy with new found power jacking 50 HRs.

Some talking head last year on either ESPN or MLB called Thome a "mistake hitter," to which one of the panelists responded, "Well, the pitchers have made a lot of mistakes to him, I guess."

He should retire at 600.

Hopefully he can hit at least 10 more so he can pass that POS Sammy Sosa.

Very cool to see a guy that stayed clean his whole career hit the 600 mark - hasn't been done in a long time.

I'm betting the Twins put him on waivers in the next few days and try to trade him to a contender (Philly or Cleveland would be great places to send him back to - he'd also fit in well with Texas or New York)

Thome wants a ring... more than anything, he wants a ring.

Too bad he can't play defense. D-Backs could use a bat.

word is that he can still play okay defense - but with Thome you're tempting fate on the injury front the more you use him...

he'd be a great fit on the D-Backs as a veteran leader in the clubhouse on a team of young guys

If it was up to Thome it's obvious he'd want to come back to Philly. Just watch his postgame last night & he was blubbering with credit towards Charlie Manuel - said he was basically his second father.

That would be the obvious choice.

In order to Thome to wind up in Philly, he would now have to clear waivers throughout both leagues and all teams. Even AL teams like the Yankees and Red Sox might but a claim in, because with Thome in the Philly lineup, that lineup gets much deeper in the post-season (at least in AL parks).

The only team the D-Backs would have to dodge would be the Giants.... 8-) 8-) 8-)

Thome placed on trade waivers today. Ken Rosenthal says that the Phillies want him, but he probably wont fall to them.
