Former Orioles pitcher Mike Flanagan, a Cy Young winner who became a face of the franchise as a television announcer and top executive, was found dead on his Baltimore County property Wednesday afternoon, according to team sources.
A Baltimore County police spokeswoman confirmed that police received a 911 call at 4:26 p.m. reporting a suspicious death in the 15000 block of York Road in Sparks. When officers arrived, they found a man's body on a trail leading to a barn, said spokeswoman Elise Armacost.
Sources said the body was that of Flanagan, 59, a New Hampshire native.

So sad. Watching the Orioles - Twins game with Palmer in the booth calling the game... with no knowledge of it until the 9th inning.
The post-game show is just brutal.

Rick Dempsey and Palmer in tears.
RIP Flanny

Godfuckingdamnit. This is heartbreaking stuff.
Police did not immediately identify the cause of death, but sources confirmed that Flanagan took his own life "despondent over what he considered a false perception from a community he loved of his role in the team's prolonged failure," Sandusky said.

Gutless.
I mean, BFD. Somebody doesn't "like" you. Honest to Christ, if THAT'S all it takes to make you eat a bullet, you were bound to do it for some reason anyways.

Fuck off, analjelly. You can cry in your beer, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion. Honestly, I could give two rips whether he died or not. Doesn't mean shit to me. But killing yourself because you feel you're "perceived" poorly. Wow... Well now he's going to be perceived as a piss poor GM AND mentally weak. Nice combo.

I heard he had financial problems. It's a darn shame. Depression is a powerful thing.

Perhaps he was struck down because of his incredibly vulgar and offensive use of the Lord's title, in vain, earlier in this thread.

People always say that.
I personally think it's incredibly brave to be able to suck on a Remington lollipop and press the double-ought buckshot lever.
I bet his family is getting a huge insurance payout if he's past the two-year suicide clause on his policies and they don't have to put up with an irritable bastard anymore. Consider it an early Christmas present.

Interesting way to look at it. I think it's more about seeing one's situation/future as so hopeless that doing that becomes a viable option.

It's selfish in the sense that he was too proud and you are weak to ask for help. The light at the end of the tunnel isn't always a freight train coming at you.

Sad. I'm sorry but it's the cowards way out & just hurts the people left behind. A bigger man faces his troubles head on.

Huh? What the hell are you talking about 93? There is no excuse for taking your own life, none, zero, zip, zilch. May his family be in peace.
