And there actually getting a new stadium thats going to open next year. But in all fairness though with a combination of the Florida heat plus school just starting who has the time or effort/tolerance to sit through a Marlins day game? Plus it was game 1 of a double header.
Also the attendance was so bad the boxscores I checked didn't even have it listed. The attendance for the 2nd game was 22,000+ which isn't bad.

Compared to what the attendance was for the first game, 22,000+ for a Marlins-Reds game isn't bad. 22,505 to be exact.

Yeah, so with school starting yesterday down here plus the heat plus the threat of a hurricane on the way of course the attendance is going to be pretty bad.
Same story with pretty much all Florida teams. Jags, Rays, Heat, Marlins, Panthers. Worst pro sports area in the country by far. And they keep on getting teams for some dumbass reason.

That's GOTTA be a record low.
I vaguely remember hearing a story about an MLB game being played in the past year or two, but w/o any tickets being sold for some reason.
update: guess it wasn't an MLB game, but a triple-A minor league game in Des Moines, played while the city was under a voluntary evacuation order due to flooding. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/blog/big_le ... =mlb-88130" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Baseball just doesn't draw fans in Florida. Period. This is a look at the Rays game the other night that I attended as part of a work function. At least our seats were good and the food and drink was free.
