And there actually getting a new stadium thats going to open next year. But in all fairness though with a combination of the Florida heat plus school just starting who has the time or effort/tolerance to sit through a Marlins day game? Plus it was game 1 of a double header.

Also the attendance was so bad the boxscores I checked didn't even have it listed. :ohno:  The attendance for the 2nd game was 22,000+ which isn't bad.

Compared to what the attendance was for the first game, 22,000+ for a Marlins-Reds game isn't bad. 22,505 to be exact.

Worth noting that the day game was originally scheduled for tomorrow but was moved up on short notice because of the coming hurricane.

If there were ACTUALLY 22,500 there, that's about 3x their normal crowd.

Yeah, so with school starting yesterday down here plus the heat plus the threat of a hurricane on the way of course the attendance is going to be pretty bad.

And they are getting a new stadium...

Same story with pretty much all Florida teams. Jags, Rays, Heat, Marlins, Panthers. Worst pro sports area in the country by far. And they keep on getting teams for some dumbass reason.

And also, regarding that pic, who are the retards that decided to sit in the outfield stands when you could sit front row anywhere on the infield?

Apparently the attendance was under 400 at the afternoon game.

I vaguely remember hearing a story about an MLB game being played in the past year or two, but w/o any tickets being sold for some reason.

update: guess it wasn't an MLB game, but a triple-A minor league game in Des Moines, played while the city was under a voluntary evacuation order due to flooding. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/blog/big_le ... =mlb-88130" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

I think too much of a big deal is being made over this.

Baseball just doesn't draw fans in Florida. Period. This is a look at the Rays game the other night that I attended as part of a work function. At least our seats were good and the food and drink was free. ;)

Remind me again why the state of Florida needs 2 MLB teams, 2 NBA teams, 3 NFL teams, and an NHL team.

The state of Florida has time and time and time again shown they don't support their teams. Move them out to someone that would.

Holy shit...I did forget the Panthers....

What...the...fuck.

Move both NHL franchises north (Canada and....well both to Canada).

Move the Jags to LA.

Move the Marlins to Oklahoma.

Limit the selection to focus support to a couple options....not many options to divide the fan bases.

Well, that would have been a good idea right up until the time they built them a new stadium set to open next year.
