Justin Verlander can be MLB's first twenty-game winner this year with a win today.
For the last 10 years, there have been 33 total 20 game winners.
Verlander has a shot of tying or beating Randy Johnson's 21st Century win record, the 24 wins in 2002.

I'm sure JJ will find a Yankee more deserving of the Cy Young.

Last pitcher to win 30 games was Denny McLain in 1968, with a 31-6 record for the World Champion Detroit Tigers. He won the Cy Young and MVP that year. He won another Cy Young the next year with 24 wins.
After the Tigers had clinched the '68 AL pennant, McLain exhibited a rare display of magnanimity in a game against the New York Yankees; in cruising to his 31st victory, with the Tigers leading 6–1, McLain grooved a "fat" pitch to Mickey Mantle, whom McLain had idolized while growing up. It allowed the soon-to-retire Mantle to hit his 535th homer and pass Jimmie Foxx on the all-time home run list.
McLain spent a lot of time in and out jail during the next 40 years.

Who's crying? Last I heard, temper tantrums and beanballs are A-Ok in baseball.

Colorado and Tampa Bay have never had a pitcher reach 20 wins in a season. Both teams had pitchers reach 19 wins last year (David Price - Tampa Bay; Ubaldo Jimenez - Colorado) last year, but are still waiting for their first 20 win pitcher.

The way he's pitching right now I think he can. His final three starts of the season are at Chicago, at Oakland and at home vs. Baltimore.
