AZ Cardinals lose on worst call in history of NFL

Giant reciever falls down, untouched. Thinks he has been touched. Lays ball on ground. Cardinals pick it up. Officials rule that reciever had "given himself up", even though rule book clearly states the only way to give up is to slide or take a knee.

Of course, it benefits the NY Giants. Fuck the NFL - it is clearly rigged.

I honestly thought Cruz (UMass) actually gave himself up.

I didn't realize anyone could do that other than the QB so I thought he did fumble it, but that's what I thought when he first did it.

But you can only give yourself up by sliding or taking a knee. If he had gotten up and ran for a TD, would they have called him down? Don't think so.

Sounds like a bad call, but IIRC Eli Manning had a play against the Eagles a year or two ago where he dove (without being touched) after running for the first down and fumbled the ball after contacting the ground and the Eagles recovered. Reviewed and ball stayed with Eagles. Not sure I believe your big market favoritism Jon. :|

objectively - (as a someone who isn't a fan of either team) it looked to me like he gave himself up...

Not according to the rule book.

It may be right by the wording in the rule book, per se, but it just means the NFL has been calling this wrong for years. Just like the tuck rule, there's plenty that needs cleaning up in the NFL rule books (although I think they like it to be vague - they're always right then).

How bad can the Cardinals be, losing to the Vikings. First win by the Vikings who lost to KC last week.
