Now that the Yankees have been momentarily derailed from their inevitable 28th world championship, I'm back in the game, now rooting for my second favorite team, the Phillies. Yup, I always pull for the New York team, so I've got to go with this team from the southern New York suburb of Philadelphia. The fact that the Phillies are the only sports team named after a female animal doesn't bother me in the least.

The Phils look unbeatable with that pitching staff. Oh sure, Mrs. Cliff Lee choked in a big game the way you might expect from a guy who signs to play where his wife tells him to play, but we've got Halladay going tonight at home to wrap this sucker up. And Lee is in the bullpen ready to go in a pinch, if Charlie Manuel gives him the ball and his wife says its ok.

We've spent a bunch on this pitching staff and it's going to pay off. Sure, with all that money spent on pitching, we're a little short on offense, and in fact Halladay, Lee, Hamels and Oswalt are our best offensive players too.

But it's inevitable. This greatest era in Philadelphia baseball history (so defined because we've won one world championship in the past 30 years) rolls on!

Alright, that got a chuckle out of me.

Nothing better than bitter Jankees fans.

Man, how big is your closet to hold all the different combinations of sports teams you could root for in order to inevitably be rooting for the one who wins at the end?

Well, they probably have a better chance than the Yankees did. They're not hanging their post season hopes on CC Sabathia.

2011 Postseason: 3 games, 2 starts, 8.2 IP, 6.23 ERA, 2.07 WHIP.

We've talked about CC's struggles in the post season ad nausem....I didn't think he could GET worse, but he proved me wrong.

Root for the two highest payroll teams? Convenient!

Dude didn't even win a game in the World Series. He gets as much credit for that as the bat boy did. Maybe that's why the Yanks haven't won it since then - the rest of the team is still trying to get over the back pain of having to carry CC and his large self to that title on their shoulders.
