Post by UNHWildCats »

The St. Louis Cardinals will start Chris Carpenter on 3 days rest in game 7 if the team is able to extend the series tomorrow in game 6.

Ironically, we can have our 3 best pitchers available for the final 2 games. Garcia going tomorrow and both Jackson and Carp are now available for Friday if we get there.

But we have to get there...

Carpenter is good, but not a world beater, and on 3 days rest, we'll see.

Yep, first the Cards have to get there & the Rangers have already made it be known Pujols won't be the one beating them. Carpenter on 3 days rest vs the Phils was a disaster by the way....

We can fix the Pujols thing but actually surrounding him with hitters. Don't know why TLR hasn't moved Holliday to the 2 spot during his struggles. TLR loves to have power in that spot and you know with Pujols behind, he will get pitches to hit since they don't want to face Pujols with men on. Craig has the power to drive people in so stick him in the 6th or 7th spot and we don't lose anything top to bottom.

Shhhhh. Don't distract the Phillies fans. They're trying to watch their world championship parade.

So your okay if Carpenter pitches 3 innings and gives up 4 runs?

As long as the Cardinals score at least 5 runs. There are no style points in baseball.

Shhhhh, it's a stupid question, the Cardinals won because the offense bailed Carpenter out and the bullpen pitched great. Carpenter on 3 days rest is a legit concern, since he's only done it once and he sucked.

If Tony LaRussa somehow knew in advance that Carpenter was only going to go 3 innings and give up 4 runs, he wouldn't start him. He's starting him because he expects a better result (I do to), but don't try and excuse away a 3 inning 4 run performance. An ERA of 12 sucks no matter how you look at it, the fact that the team bailed him out doesn't change that.

six innings - 2 runs thusfar - after a shaky first and second, he has looked DAMN good.

5-2 Redbirds in the sixth.
