These are my awards for the just completed NFL regular season.

MVP: Aaron Rodgers

Some will argue after yesterday that Rodgers is nothing more than a system quarterback and while that may or may not be true, the fact that Tom Brady won the MVP last year with a similar output after being labeled a system quarterback in 2008 means that no one really cares if he is or not.

Offensive Player of the Year: Tom Brady

All due respect to Drew Brees, but Tom Brady's season was more impressive. Brees broke Dan Marino's passing yard record and also had the fourth highest passing touchdown total ever along with breaking his own completion percentage record. That's all nice, but he did all that while playing his home games in a dome and having his only road game outdoors north of the Mason-Dixon line come in the season opener at Green Bay.

Meantime, Brady put up very similar numbers while playing home games in the northeast outdoors, with the games after the calendar turned to November coming at New England, at New York, at New England, at Philadelphia, at New England, at Washington, at Denver, at New England and at New England.

Defensive Player of the Year: Undecided

Offensive Rookie of the Year: Cam Newton

Nothing needs to be said here. This award should be unanimous.

Defensive Rookie of the Year: Von Miller

Ditto.

Coach of the Year: Jim Harbaugh - should be unanimous

AJ Green should get some consideration for Offensive Rookie too

Theres a couple guys on defense I would choose and he is one, I just cant make up my mind.

Well good thing you don't have any actual say in it, as Brady over Brees would just be plain r-tarded.

Choosing a Defensive Player of the Year should be especially difficult this year.

Jason Allen - 22 sacks
Terrell Suggs - 70 Tackles, 14 sacks
Darelle Revis - 4 INT, absolutely shut down corner

There are just three guys who come to mind, but there are many out there with similar stats, or better resumes.

Jared Allen easily.

No way Jared, not Jason, Allen doesn't get DPOY.

He was a .5 sacks short of the all time record for a single season...and remember he didn't have Favre falling down right in front of him to give him a full sack....so really he has the all time record by .5

London Fletcher with Charles Woodson coming in second.

I would put Chad Greenway over Jared Allen on the Vikings.

Also, I love how Brees gets every category over Brady for MVP....yet Brady gets it because he played games in "North"....Even thought he Mason Dixon line goes up into Maryland.

My point was that while the stats are close between Brees and Brady its worth noting that Brady has had to play more than half his games outdoors in the northeast after the start of November, whereas Brees has played 1 game outdoors in the north and that came in the beginning of September. To me that makes Bradys numbers more impressive. And I never mentioned either in the MVP, I was arguing between them for Offensive Player of the Year.

I think its very close between the two and I think the playing environment should be a factor. But either player would be a worthy choice.

Not exactly a real tough schedule. In fact when they actually played good teams (playoffs teams) they were under .500 at 2-3, and one of those wins came against Denver....who is likely the worst playoff team (save maybe Cinci).....Also New Orleans had a tougher SOS this year....not by much but by every measure I've seen it is tougher. The average temp for the home games they've played has been about 45-50....not nearly what you want to make it out to be, especially for November and December, and the average road temp has been about the same....3
