Andy Musser, one of the greatest Philadelphia sportscasters ever, died yesterday of heart failure. He and Harry Kalas teamed up as Phillies broadcasters for about 25 years, and he also did several years' worth of Sixers and Eagles games. Now we have to put up with the likes of Chris Wheeler. SMFH.

We used to always make fun of Andy Musser - really when you look back on it because he had one of the toughest jobs in broadcasting - he wasn't Harry the K. Anyone who did play by play during that era would've been in Harry's shadow.
However, Musser delivered one of the most famous calls in Phillies history (right around the 0:33 mark on the link)

Amazing how much one can miss Andy Musser when you are forced to listen to the abortion that is Chris "Wheels" Wheeler. When you are maybe the only person that Harry Kalas truly, completely hated, that should say something. Where have you gone, Andy Musser?

I remember that home run like it was yesterday. The Phils had to take 2 out of 3 in Montreal the last weekend of the season to win the NL East in 1980, and Schmidt won game 2 with that shot and clinched it. No wild cards in those days!
