Why isn't Don Mattingly in baseball's hall of fame?

He was the best player in baseball for 5 years.

Because people think he was some inflated by being a Yankee....despite the fact that the Yanks were a middle of the road team during the Mattingly era.

Yankees were a 90 win team when Mattingly was at his peak. Kirby Puckett took a mediocre team to 2 World Series Championships during his career.

He is not in because he is not worthy.

His number is retired by the New York Yankees.

Achieving the secondary honor of the HOF would be nice, but he has already been given the greatest honor in all of baseball.

I thought the highest honor one could have was having their wife spit on by those same fans - what gives?

It's not that his numbers are inflated, but it's that him being in the discussion at all is related to him being a Yankee - if he played for any other team with the numbers he had people would never even mention his name.

When it comes to sports myopia, Joe and the Yankees are a close second to the Bison trolls. About the only difference is that Joe doesn't get violent like those punks.

I'm not sold on Thomas, either.

My top pick is Hershiser. His scoreless streak is amazing....
