I'm still wondering if this is just a GM's ploy to eliminate the contract and quietly (if that's possible) sign him back at a bargain rate.

I doubt it. THe statements made afterwards would be silly and I wouldn't let someone publically fire me, only to rehire me at a cheaper rate.

I understand the NEC East, but I think it would be cool if he went to the Jets. He'll have to play him once but the Jets and Giants don't really compete for fans or media time in NY. Two different fan bases.

That does sort of make sense, Mark. But weirder things have happened.
I also wouldn't rule out Miami. The Fish have a history of picking up quarterbacks and head coaches that the Colts stupidly cast off.

I am not a Manning fan but I hope my Cards go after him. ANYTHING would be better than what we have now with Kolb and Skelton. Plus can you imagine the sick numbers Fitz would put up with a decent QB?

I have a hard time seeing Manning going to the purgatory of the NFL that is the Pac NW. Kinda along the lines of if a QB throws for 350+ yards a week does anyone notice kind of thing...

Seattle could get him since I see them offering him the most guaranteed money. They didn't franchise tag anyone to save the cash. And what do you think that money is going towards?

Either him or Mario Williams.
The money isn't what's going to sell Manning... it's the control, fit, and potential to win, which I think we have all. Power running game, some big and talented WRs, and if we nab an elite pass rusher, a top 5 defense. I'd be happy with Manning or Flynn, but we better pick up a QB better than TJax regardless (not in the 1st round though).
