Peyton Manning is finalizing a contract with the Denver Broncos, a league source told NFL Network's Michael Lombardi on Monday.

Manning called Broncos vice president of football operations John Elway Monday to inform him of his decision.

Dolphins make the most sense. They still run the wildcat right? Plus, Florida deserves to put up with Tim Tebow. They're not done yet.

As I noted in the Romo thread, I think the Broncos bringing in Manning could be of benefit to both the team AND to Tebow. It's a chance to learn under an aging mentor who still has the skills but will only be around for a few more seasons as a player. The mentoring relationship would benefit Manning as well, as it would be a chance to prepare for his (hopefully) future life as a QBs coach and/or OC.

The other obvious deal would be to ship Tebow to either Miami or Jacksonville, where the fan base would welcome him with open arms. The worst thing would be to outright cut him (after all but handing him the keys a couple of months ago) or to ship him someplace with no chance of winning in the foreseeable future (like Buffalo).

So, as a Tebow fan, I like the move IF the Broncos (and Tebow) play their cards right. There's no guarantee that they will, but I hope they do.

(OT: Incidentally, what is it with the Seahawks signing Packers' backup QBs. )

Tebow wont be in Denver next season. A lot of speculation on NFL.com is Tebow being picked up by New England. . .

Tebow will be traded, or cut. His days in Denver are over.....

The fact is that about 1 organization is wanting Tebow to come in and play,Jacksonville, and about 2 or 3 want him as a back up/situation guy - NE...and maybe Miami...maybe Cleveland...

I really don't think Manning's ever really mentored any QBs other than his brother. If he did, it certainly didn't translate because Curtis Painter and the other backup QBs with Indy over the years have been terrible. I've also read that Peyton insists on taking all the snaps in practice.

As for Seattle signing Green Bay backups... happenstance. Hawks GM Schneider was responsible for drafting Flynn, Seahawks need an upgrade to TJax, and much like Hasselbeck, Flynn was drafted late, was mentored by an All-Star QB and excelled when given the chance. Best part is that we didn't overspend like the Cards did for Kolb. Fuckin' dumbasses.

I thought T-Jax was an upper half NFL QB and would be very good for the Seahawks?....:coffee:

He may not have done so in the past because he was THE man for the foreseeable future. But at his current advanced age, Denver would be well advised to require him to do so with Tebow or whoever replaces Tebow.

Your explanation of Seattle makes LOTS of sense. Outside of Warner, Arizona hasn't had a long-term decent QB since Jim Hart and Neil Lomax. (I know some will argue for Timm Rosenbach, but I don't buy THAT one.)

Hayzeus you're a dumbass. I never said that. I said he would be better in Seattle than he had been for the Vikes over his career. He was, despite no offseason with the team, despite an OL that lost 3 starters to injury for the season (4 total), and despite partially tearing a pec. I never said he was going to be a great/all-star QB, just that he would be better than expected, which he was. Get over it ViQueens fan. :coffee:

At least we know that Seattle will fail to make the playoffs for at least 4 years. :coffee:

Yeah, we'll see. With a likely top-5 defense and better QB for a team that went 7-9 last year and lost 5 games by 6 points or less... the 9ers are no lock. If we sign Michael Bush tomorrow to pair up with Beast Mode, we're gonna run all over everyone. :coffee:

Being better than he was with the Vikes means moving from the 31st best starter in the league to the 30th.

You tried, hard, to convince me he was an above average (borderline good) starter in the NFL but the Vikings just didn't give him a fair shot.

He got his shot, and still sucked shit.
