The NFL has suspended New Orleans Saints Coach Sean Payton for a full year following an investigation into a bounty program the league said the Saints employed from 2009 to 2011, according to internet reports.

New Orleans general manager Mickey Loomis was also hit with an 8-game suspension, according to reports, and former defensive coordiantor Gregg Williams, now with the Rams, has been suspended indefinitely.

Assistant head coach/linebackers coach Joe Vitt was hit with a 6-game suspension without pay as well.

Joe Vitt, Towson alum. Suspended for 6 games.

When I heard Payton was suspended, I figured Vitt would be the interim HC like he was in St.Louis when Martz(or someone) got canned mid season.

Sounds like Vitt's role was to monitor Williams because Payton didn't trust him. Supposedly the Saints were going to make him the interim if Payton got suspended.

On another note - Bill Belicheck & the Patriots are laughing their arses off with getting away with "Spygate" which was more damaging to the game than a bounty program that let's face it, how many of today's 32 were running??

All involved including players should be banned for life.....................Just like Michel Vick was.

And Roger Goodell's "softening"(I'd love to use another word, but I'm not sure on forum rules and whatnot) of the NFL continues. Is the league going to be Arena Football 2.0 by 2020? That's where my money is, if I'm a betting man.

Nothing wrong with a clean hard hit. Totally shitty to make a bounty system to reward players who specifically knock out, injure, or have other players carted off. Zero need for that. Injuries will happen but no need to promote and reward it.

Good for Goodle. Safety is important. The brain damage formor players have can't be eliminated but can be reduced. If you really want some sweet hits then maybe you should campaign that all pads and helmets should be removed and some good old backyard ball should be played.

I haven't seen one logical reason why this ruins the game in any way.
