The Broncos may have screwed the pooch....

It appears that in the aftermath of the Broncos' stupid trade with NYJ, they FINALLY got other quarterbacks under contract. Now, their unofficial depth chart looks like this:
18 Peyton Manning TN 14
-- Caleb Hanie CO St 4
2 Adam Weber MN R
That's in order of years of experience. Except that Hanie is another Bears reject with a whopping total of TEN games under his belt and a massive 116 passes, and has accuracy issues (barely 50% completion rate). He has a greater than 3:1 INT:TD ratio. Last year, in games where he did anything significant enough to generate stats, he lost every game.
If Manning goes down, Denver is in a world of hurt. Trading Tim Tebow was a HUGE mistake.

Weber was 1-1 vs NDSU when quarterbacking the Gophers.

Yeah 'cause Tebow is so much better than those other guys.

Depends on how you define better. Better at being a passer? Yes. Better at winning games? Probably not.

I really never had noticed until these chilling events struck the Bronco camp that SH was such a devout Denver Bronco fan, who would have guessed?

I'm more of a Tebow fan, Wedgie. But I DO have some friends who are Broncos fans.

When was the last time an active Peyton Manning missed a snap? Doesn't matter who the backup is.

That's the point, 37. For years, people believed that Manning would NEVER go down. But he did. Look at the results. You HAVE to have a proven backup in this league. The Bills proved that when Mr. Never-Get-Hurt Jim Kelly went down. While I don't fear Hanie pulling the same stunt Billy Joe Hobert pulled (he got fired after he copped to not studying the game plan the week Kelly was injured), he's probably not enough should Manning get hurt, particularly if it's during preseason.
That said, the Broncos would be well advised to avoid Colts-style strategy as regards Manning. That is, should the team be involved in a blowout, Hanie should replace Manning so that if he goes down at the end of the season or during the playoffs, you're not dealing with a completely cold guy coming off the bench. I would even advocate giving Hanie one series during the second quarter so he gets some "real" action as opposed to mere mop-up duty. (I said ONE series, not extended time.) This "every snap" thing is VERY over-rated....

Well I DO have at least a couple of friends that are fans of each and every NFL team so wtf does that matter?

One is my youth pastor, and one is a Siren who is also a MMA newbie (won her first fight last year by TKO in 24 seconds). Why would I risk offending THEM?!?

Broncos draft a QB in round 4, pick up a capable back up before camp starts. Hainie and Weber are cast offs.

You think I don't know it? It made such perfect sense I just threw my keyboard away because I felt so betrayed by it.

Denver traded away a back up QB that they didn't want and got something for him. Good trade.
If Manning gets hurt Denver is screwed no matter who the back up QB is. Tebow has a place in the NFL, but I don't think he is a legit starting QB. More importantly, John Elway doesn't think so either.
