With the first big bunch of "steroid" era players now eligible, it'll be interesting to see how the BBWAA vote...but it's quite a list nonethless:

Name (Yrs Eligible), HOF Monitor

Barry Bonds (1), 340
Roger Clemens (1), 332
Mike Piazza (1), 207
Sammy Sosa (1), 202
Curt Schilling (1), 171
Craig Biggio (1), 169
Jack Morris (14), 122
Jeff Bagwell (3), 150
Lee Smith (11), 135
Edgar Martinez (4), 132
Larry Walker (3), 148
Mark McGuire (7), 170
Rafael Palmerio (3), 178
Don Mattingly (13), 134
Bernie Williams (2), 134

My prediction: Neither Bonds, Palmiero, Clemens, Bagwell, Sosa, McGuire or Walker get in because of steroids. Although of that group, I think that EVENTUALLY all but Walker get in. Personally I think Piazza should be a first ballot HOF'er, and I think this is the year Lee Smith gets in. Amazingly enough, on that list they might be the only two this year.

I'm not convinced that Clemens knowingly used; Bonds was clear.

I'd put in Clemens, Piazza, Morris, Smith, Walker, McGwire, and (grudgingly) Mattingly. I don't buy a guy who was a career DH.

Bonds is already eligible? I am definitely getting old. From this group, I think Jack Morris and Piazza will be the only 2 getting the call. Bagwell and Smith will just miss and probably make it in 2014. But eventually, I agree with you AZ, most of those guys will make it in.

I'd go with Morris, Mattingly, Smith and Piazza this year.

Not sure how you guys can overlook Biggio. 3,000 hits and no steroid taint.

He's been overlooked during most of his career. He should get in, if not this year then soon after that.

I think he'll get in, just not first ballot. :thumb: Maybe 14th, like Mattingly. :kisswink:
