TXST had 5 guys taken for the 2nd year in a row. Not too shabby.
Best thing is we had more guys drafted than UT.
First time, I believe, and I'm savoring it.
I know there's another thread but it was worth starting a new one just for the above fact.

Courtney Hawkins. His brother, Tim, is on our football team (WR/RB/QB). He was committed to UT but we tried to get him to TXST.

Nice try but you were not going to get that guy to attend Texas St over Texas. Also Shoutout to Rayan Gonzalez being picked by the Colorado Rockies from Bethune Cookman in the 21st round the MEAC has become a talent source for MLB!!!

It never hurts to try, right. These are teams we compete against, in all sports, for athletes. If we don't go after them we'd never get anywhere. We've built a pretty damn good baseball team, not quite Super Regional yet, but we're getting recognition every year now and scouts haunt the bleachers at Bobcat Field. (more than they ever have in the past)
We are losing our pitching coach to West Virginia (not happy) because he's gotten noticed. Might lose our batting coach to UT (GADS! I'd hate that) and our HC is being bantered about for the open TCU and Texas Tech jobs.
It's a very good program and we don't play "small ball" like UT. Would have been a better fit to his talents but, yeah, we weren't going to get him. (Even if his bro did try to persuade him otherwise)
