Hey, DJH....(The Joe Mauer Memorial Thread)

Interesting side note: Walking through the Minneapolis Airport just now....in the middle of baseball season, Twinkies are red hot and not a SINGLE Mauer jersey or even so much as a Twins hat to be seen....saw people reppin' the Dodgers, Yankees, Sox, Cubs, Cardinals.....also USC, Air Force Academy, Griz, Notre Dame, Texas A&M, Nebraska, Packers.

Just seemed odd to me.

Just took another walkabout....2 more Packers fans, Wisconsin Badgers, Texas Longhorns, another Notre Dame, a Seahawks fan, UVa....still not a Twinkies fan in sight.

Twins game on FS1 today showed at least 2 or 3 Mauer jerseys in every crowd shot.

Hell, that's almost a season's worth of performance for him. Time for a back injury, ain't it?

Twins were playing at the time you were at the airport. Anyone with a Mauer jersey was at the game or watching on TV, not driving to the airport just to flaunt their jersey in front of you.

OK, I'l ask the question that no one else will..

Why the fuck is Z so gawdamn obsessed with JM? Did JM deny him a reacharound in a public bathroom or something? :?

It's really creepy. I'm beginning to think that JM really did personally wrong Z. I really am.

More to get/stay under DJH's and Clenzy's skin....they're a tad bit sensitive when you criticize their golden boy. :coffee:

Mauer's replacement at DH/1B, Miguel Sano is starting off pretty good. First 50 games he has 14 HR's, 41 RBI, and hitting .295. Sano is 22, 6'4" and 260 lbs.

Amazing, in a year in which despite career HIGH's in PA's and AB's, he's got career lows in BA, OBP, and OPS.

Worth every penny, I'm sure. :coffee: :coffee:

Played more games than any year in his life too. The thing is, Mauer was underpaid when he was winning 3 batting titles, and now he's over-paid while learning a new position.

Logging on again simply to claim victory on a decade old argument, as we are now just mere weeks away from Joe Mauer being named a 1st Ballot Hall of Famer, as I said would happen.

Thank you, and good night.

Eh, Scott Rolen got into the HOF - the doors are wide open now. Nothing against Mauer, I think he was a fine player.

Even with a severe concussion he was a better hitter than 95% of the league.

Rolen was elected on his 6th ballot, Mauer might be a first ballot Hall of Famer.

Rolen shouldn't have been elected on his 60th ballot. There's a dearth of great candidates right now.

There's at least 20 players in Cooperstown worse than Torri Hunter and Hunter is trending off the ballot. Several of these players have been in the Hall 30+ years.
