In IWFL Division Round playoff action tonight, the Sacramento Sirens (8-1) won a tough battle against the Seattle Majestics (6-3) 7-0. Wingback Trewdy Wolfe took the ball over for the game's only score. A second-half interception by Ashlee Sharp on the Sirens own goal line and a huge fourth down stop of the Majestics as they were driving with less than a minute left sealed it for the Sirens, despite a heady move by punter Julie Shockley to avert disaster as a snap went sailing over her head. She was able to pick it up and run it out to about the Sirens 20 before she was stopped. Majestic defenders were keying on Shockley all night, allowing Sharp, Wolfe, and fullback Kristy Milanese to work relatively unchecked when Shockley was in.

The Sirens will head to Milwaukee in two weeks to tackle the #1 seed Wisconsin Warriors (9-0), who beat the tough Phoenix Phantomz (7-2) 40-37 tonight.

Scores in the Eastern Conference went like this:

Montreal Blitz (9-0) d. Baltimore Nighthawks (7-2) 33-6
Houston Energy (9-0) d. Atlanta Xplosion (7-2) 21-20

So, in Tier I in two weeks, it will be SAC @ WIS for the Western Conference Championship and HOU @ MTL (I think) for the Eastern Conference Championship. The winners will meet two weeks after that for the World Championship in Round Rock, TX.

In Tier II action (mostly second-place teams):

Madison Cougars (7-2) d. Iowa Crush (4-5) 34-0
Portland Shockwave (4-5) d. California Quake (3-6) by forfeit
New England Intensity (7-2) d. Philadelphia Firebirds (4-5) 31-13
Carolina Phoenix (8-1) d. Arlington Impact (6-3) 33-6

Tier II games in two weeks, then:

POR @ MAD
NE @ CAR

The winners will meet two weeks after at Round Rock for the North American Title. The Tier I and Tier II championships will be played on Saturday of Championship Weekend. On Sunday, the IWFL will stage their annual All-Star Game.
